How To Clean A Composite Door

There are many different types of doors that you can use to enhance your home. From uPVC to aluminium, there are endless possibilities. However, composite doors are also starting to become popular for homeowners across the country. They are designed to be durable and thermally efficient while increasing any home’s visual appeal.

Due to their natural durability, composite doors are low-maintenance, making them perfect for any homeowner. In this article, we will discuss how best to maintain your composite door so it can remain looking new for years to come.

Cleaning Supplies Recommended:

  • Mild detergent or soap
  • Warm water
  • Soft cloth or sponge
  • Non-abrasive brush
  • Glass cleaner (if applicable)
  • Microfiber cloth or newspaper

Step 1 – Prepare The Cleaning Solution

An efficient cleaning solution consists of warm water and a mild detergent or soap. Then, mix the solution in a bucket or spray bottle, depending on what will work best for you.  We recommend avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they could damage the door’s surface.

Step 2 – Remove Loose Dirt and Debris

To make the process easier, try to remove any loose dirt or debris before applying the cleaning solution. You can do this by using a soft cloth or sponge on the surface of the door. Gently wipe the door, and ensure that any dirt is removed from any notches or grooves.

Step 3 – Apply The Cleaning Solution

Dip the soft cloth or sponge into the cleaning solution and remove any excess water. Start by wiping the door, starting from the top and going downwards. Make sure you clean the entire surface, including the edges and corners. If there are any stubborn stains or dirt, you can use a non-abrasive brush to scrub the affected areas gently.

Step 4 – Rinse With Clean Water

Once the composite door is cleaned, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining soap residue. This is especially important if you want to avoid any streaks or residue drying on the surface of the door.

Step 5 – Dry The Door After Rising

Once you have rinsed the door, you can have it dry by using a microfiber cloth or newspaper. Avoid using any material that is rough or abrasive, as you may scratch the surfaces. Gently wipe the surface in a circular motion to ensure the door is thoroughly dried and free from streaks.

Step 6: Clean the glass (if applicable)

If your composite door has glass panels, you can use a glass cleaner to clean them. Spray the glass cleaner onto a microfiber cloth or newspaper and wipe the glass in a circular motion until it is clean and streak-free. Avoid spraying the glass cleaner directly onto the glass to prevent it from dripping onto the door surface.
